What we read in the history books is as wild and varied as any fantasy
I’m obsessed with the 1600’s in France and England.
Some of my favorite fiction sets imaginary characters into a Europe in which England’s Merrie Monarch had to sleep in a tree to hide from assassins, while just across the channel the nobles vied for the privilege of chatting with the Sun King as he sat on the toilet every morning.
I couldn’t resist imagining the lives and loves of three young women in this colorful era. Of conflicting temperaments and different classes, these competitors are forced to depend on each other in order to survive in a social world that disdains each of them for a different reason.
Three jeunes femmes in the Paris of Louis XIV. Their battlefield: the marriage market. Their war cry: None for all—and all for love!
